Reboot Rx, drug repurposing tech nonprofit, selected for Fast Forward Accelerator
(Boston, MA - July 15, 2020) Reboot Rx, the nonprofit startup bringing affordable cancer treatments to patients faster by repurposing non-cancer generic drugs, announces it has been selected for this summer’s Fast Forward Accelerator. Reboot Rx uses AI-powered technology to identify the most promising drugs to repurpose for cancer treatment and is developing innovative funding models to support definitive clinical trials.
Reboot Rx's participation in the Fast Forward Accelerator is the latest of many recognitions. Reboot Rx (formerly Cures Within Reach for Cancer) has received awards from MassChallenge, the Dana-Farber Cancer Institute, The Greater Sum Foundation, and MassBio. At the end of 2019, Reboot Rx received a $1.5 million grant to develop its technology.
Over 200 non-cancer generic drugs have shown promise for the treatment of cancer. Currently, researchers have to manually review and synthesize data from thousands of published studies to determine which drugs could provide the greatest benefits for cancer patients. It’s an impossible task. Reboot Rx’s technology can get the job done in a matter of weeks. Founder and CEO of Reboot Rx Dr. Laura Kleiman explained, “Cancer patients don’t have the time to wait the 10 years it takes for new drugs to come to market. And most people can’t afford these drugs anyway. Low-cost generics could be game changers for patients worldwide.”
“We are thrilled to be part of the Fast Forward Accelerator,” said Dr. Kleiman. “Fast Forward has an incredible track record of helping technology nonprofits scale their impact. As a participant in the program, we’ll have access to funding, receive advice on our technology development and business model, and make invaluable connections in the tech world.”
